The brief
A niche marketplace for exotic spider breeders and keepers in the UK. The site needed to handle live animal shipping rules, legal species filtering, and a specialised checkout that accounts for livestock weight.
What I built
A custom Laravel e-commerce platform with faceted search across 48 UK-legal species, a Spirit Spider Matcher quiz that recommends species based on keeper experience, event-sourced order tracking, and a Stripe checkout with live-weight shipping calculations.
The result
The quiz alone drove a significant chunk of traffic, and the legal-species filter gave buyers confidence they weren't breaking the law. The order system handles everything from pre-order to delivered with full audit trails.
