Operation Herrick - The Long Shadow

The brief

A project to document the UK's 20-year involvement in Afghanistan. Not a political statement, just a record. The site needed to handle a timeline of events, an interactive map, a memorial section, and cost visualisations.

What I built

A single-page application with an interactive 38-event timeline with filtering, a Leaflet map with bilingual place names, a memorial for the 457 British personnel who died, animated cost charts, an original score player, and a story submission form for veterans and families.

The result

A sober, accessible archive that serves as a historical record and a memorial. The site includes resources for veterans and their families.
